Saturday night under the lights of the legendary BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma for Round 5 of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series. Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki laid down another history making finish! Podium dominance is what Team Babbitt’s brought to the fans and Tyler Bowers didn’t waste a moment in regaining his podium spot!

Starting out the evening in heat one Chad Johnson worked hard to move himself into the main event, starting off the gate in a 9th place position and fighting through the pack to a 5th place finish locked him into the main event! In heat two when the gates dropped Josh Demuth and Tyler Bowers quickly moved to the front of the pack in typical Team Babbitt’s style with Bowers locking the 1st place position and Demuth right behind him in 2nd.

Another Saturday night race format allowed one chance for the Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki team to shine and when the pressure is on, this team performs! With a parade lap behind them, Josh Demuth and Tyler Bowers lined up on the front gate with teammate Chad Johnson on the second gate. Gates drop and Bowers moved into the 3rd place position, focused and driven, Bowers locked in the 1st place position by lap 5 and never looked back! Demuth 5th off the gate battled through the tight pack of racers, working hard, Demuth moves into the 2nd place position on lap 12, the Sheriff didn’t waste any time revisiting the podium with a 2nd place finish! Chad Johnson sprung off the gate in 8th place driving him to lay down an all out assault, with some aggressive racing, Johnson landing himself on the podium with a 3rd place finish giving Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki another night of victory and a second podium sweep of the season!

In conversation, team owner Eddie Babbitt spoke of the dynamics and what the overall response to the team’s current success is! Eddie expressed “I would believe that we have a combination of great leadership and rider talent, and the fact is that every single person on this team wants to win badly. The excitement and moral at the Babbitt’s Superstore dealership is unreal and I would say it is the same way at the track every weekend as well! We are just firing on all cylinders this year! Hey there and welcome to MXPTV’s Week In Review.  We can check off another week this off season as the start of full racing action in the Northeast region is quickly approaching!  In the Northeast region, the official start of the racing kicks off with the first Loretta Lynn area qualifier, which is at the Elizabeth City MX Park in Elizabeth City, NC for the third year in a row on February 20-21.  Will MXPTV be there this year?  As of now, for me, I have no clue as many things are scheduled on this date that include the 1st LL area qualifier in the Northeast.  The first round of the East region Lites SX series is in Indianapolis is that weekend (which is Justin Barcia’s first SX race and a race I’m trying not to miss) and a possible non-moto video shoot could occur that weekend for me.  It’s still silly season for me and MXPTV from to covering what races this year to doing other projects has got me rescheduling my schedule constantly.  Even though we are in the heart of the off season, MXPTV is still brewing up new, fresh videos this month.

Speaking of new videos, it’s going to be really tough to get any new, fresh content the next couple weeks due to a very large snow storm making its way toward the Northeast region.  But don’t worry! I already got some new videos to show off the next 2 weeks that include a couple of Rider Profile videos with footage I shot of certain riders throughout the past year and a new Products video featuring pro flat track racer and Pennsylvania native Johnny Lewis visiting the Penske Racing/Axis Shocks shop in Reading, PA.  If you have been following my Twitter feed (www.twitter.com/MXPTV), I did throw out the term “Florida” a couple of times for this weekend.  But with the huge storm heading this way, traveling will take way longer for a planned weekend trip.  I was planning to do some filming of my brother, Tyler, and his all new ride for 2010 but if next weekend looks better, we will mostly head down to a couple track over the weekend and put together a cool riding video for all of you MXPTV viewers!

While working on these short videos for the MXPTV web site and hustling between other projects, I am still putting together a full length Best of MXPTV DVD of the 2009 season.  I haven’t made much progress the past few weeks but my goal is to get it all done by the end of the month and have it out by mid March.  I have fully completed two segments of the video so far and it is looking really good.  Stay tuned for more information about the new DVD in the next coming weeks.

Also, I have been heavily planning an Atlanta/Daytona SX week with Johnny Lewis and a few others.  The plan is to go to the Atlanta SX round on February 27th.  Then, during the week, I’ll be in Daytona with Johnny as he gets his dialed in for the AMA pro flat track event next to the Daytona International Speedway, which is held on Wednesday and Thursday that week.  Then, after covering the flat track event, plans are to cover both the pro and amateur supercross events from the speedway Saturday and Sunday.  Details are being smoothed out and if all goes as planned, expect lots of photo updates and coverage the entire week from Atlanta and Daytona!

Random Riders: District 6 Awards Banquet

While I was wrapping up a fun night at the District 6 awards banquet in Reading, PA two weeks ago,  two New Jersey riders came up to me and wanted to get in the video.  I had just finished a closing piece with announcer Rich Trevelise and the mic’s and tripod were already set up.  So, these two riders came over and decided to go all out on the mic in front of the camera.  I hit the record button and let them do their thing and it turned out to be pretty funny.  Kevin “Squigs5866666″ Quigley and Anthony “Sombrero” Faccone talked whatever hit their minds.  From Mike Cepress’s “Jersey Shore” look to dissing Pennsylvania entirely to random ShopRite love, these two sure can turn on the comedy switch in a heartbeat (with a touch of my sound editing talent).  Check out the video at the link below!

Billy Hauser Tribute: District 6 Awards Banquet

The District 6 awards banquet was missing a key rider this year and that was the most entertaining motocross racer in Pennsylvania, Billy Hauser.  Billy has been a regular fixture to my videos ever since his Unadilla beatboxing session in July 2008 to his hilarious Richard Cranium skit in Moto Xposure 3.  Since then, he has appeared here and there on MXPTV and viewers from all around quickly go in LOL mode whenever Billy opens his mouth and hears what he has to say.  Billy isn’t just funny as hell.  He is also a top running B rider in the Ultimate Series in PA and made Loretta’s in 2007 in the 250 C class.   Billy has had a legendary past at the District 6 awards banquet that include interviewing riders with the question “How was the track today?” during the banquet  to interviewing a local convenience store owner next door to the banquet hall.  Billy did not show up for some reason this year and his friends were very concerned.  So, we put together a short tribute for Billy and hoping he comes back in 2011!  Check out the video below!

This past weekend Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki rolled into chilly Kansas City, Missouri for Round 4 of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series. Destined to keep the winning streak alive in the magnificent Kemper Sports Complex, with a one night race format, Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki had Saturday night to shine!

When the gate dropped for heat one, Demuth roared off the line ripping the hole shot, leading the race wire to wire and taking the win! Chad Johnsonstarted strong in 4th place and battled into 3rd for a podium finish!

Heat two was a piece of cake for Tyler “Hitman” Bowers! Bowers grabbed 1st place and set the fastest lap time of the evening, giving Bowers the first gate pick for the main event!

Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki set the fastest three lap times of the night! Bowers 1st, Johnson 2nd and Demuth 3rd. All riders were coming in hot and ready to challenge for Saturday night’s championship! Under the lights of the main event, the gate dropped and Josh Demuth stormed off the line! The Sheriff was back in town! Demuth pulled the hole shot, distanced himself from the pack and never looked back! Demuth proudly claimed his first win of the season! Chad Johnson left the gate in the fourth place, coming in strong and not too far behind Bowers. Charging the pack, Johnson moved into 2nd place to join his teammate on the podium!

With a five-race winning streak behind him, Tyler bowers had his first run of bad luck this season! An unlucky crash resulted in a cut front brake hose that wrapped around his front wheel! Fortunately for Bowers the hose broke and he was able to go on and finish 8th in the main event!

U.S. Rider Ryan Blizzard set out for the British Supercross Championships in November with the goal of making something happen for 2010.  Coming off an injury sustained at the Montreal SX, Ryan was forced into the position of racing his way back into shape while searching for a game plan for 2010.  His work ethic and his solid performances throughout the British Supercross season led Ryan to reach an agreement to compete for Meredith MX aboard a Suzuki RMZ-450 in the Maxxis British Championships, the Red Bull Nationals and the Wulfsport Masters.

Ryan finished off the British Supercross season Saturday evening with a pair of podium finishes in the SX1 and SX2 classes and a victory in the Head to Head competition at the O2 Arena in London. Ryan’s solid finishes and consistency throughout the entire series propelled him to a pair of third place finishes in both pro class point standings.

Ryan’s 2010 UK outdoor season will start on February 28^th with the highly contested, eight round Maxxis British Championships.  Ryan will also be riding the nine round, Red Bull Nationals and the seven round, Wulfsport Masters in 2010.

Another week has gone this off season and not much racing is going on in the Northeast.  But there was an awards banquet happening in Reading, PA last Saturday for District 6 and the Ultimate Series, which turned out to be a very fun and hard working night with both videos and photos from the night.  I was able to cover a couple of Ultimate Series events in 2009 but for 2010, MXPTV will be covering a total of 5 out of the 10 rounds with coverage on Sunday only.  I’m excited to have the opportunity to cover more races for 2010.  I’d like to thank District 6 for supporting MXPTV and helping out with the 2010 Ultimate Series.

District 6/Ultimate Series Awards Banquet Coverage

MXPTV’s 2010 Manufacturer Contingency Status

This week, MXPTV did the research and looked up all the major manufacturers who are offering contingency payouts for the 2010 season.  From what we saw, all the brands except Husqvarna have posted contingency with Suzuki just announcing their contingency after we made our original post.  For links to the all of the manufacturer’s payout schedules, CLICK HERE!

New Race Added to MXPTV Race Schedule!

Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki did everything but hold back during round three of the 2010 AMA Arenacross Series which kicked-off from Hampton Coliseum in Hampton, VA.

Friday nights racing heat one started off strong for Josh Demuth with a hole shot, holding 1st place for most the race then slipping into 2nd. During heat two Tyler Bowers held 4th place, but powered forward into 2nd with teammateChad Johnson locking down a 4th place finish!

The main event gates dropped and Tyler Bowers charged into 1st place, taking the win for a second weekend in a row! Josh Demuth had a great run in 3rd place, but after some tuff block troubles Josh had to fight his way back through the field and was able to get a 9th place finish while teammate Chad Johnson took 3rd place for a podium finish on what most the racers were calling one tough slick track! Special thanks to Maxxis tires for the hook up!

Saturday night’s heat one was packed with Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki racers! Bowers, Johnson and Demuth on a 1, 2, 3 gate pick! The pressure was on, Bowers took the lead and won the heat, with Demuth capturing 3rd, and Johnson making his way to a 4th place finish!

As the Main Event got underway the bright lights of the Legendary Hampton Coliseum focused all eyes on the Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki! The gates dropped and the dream team show began! Chad Johnson pulled the hole shot, Tyler Bowers takes the lead and command of the race and another 1st place finish! Johnson came in behind Bowers in 2nd and Josh Demuth locked down 3rd giving Team Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki ANOTHER Clean Sweep, a flash back to the Des Moines Pre-Qual race!

Team Owner, Eddie Babbitt could not contain his excitement “I was so pumped, it’s a dream to have this happen and here it is, again! Words cant express how I feel, I don’t even know what to think! I just looking forward to helping my riders and giving them the tools they need to succeed, sit back and wait for it to happen again! I am so proud of my whole team, the riders, mechanics and my Team Manager Denny Bartz.

Tyler Bowers contributes his success to feeling at home with the Babbitt’s Monster Energy TiLUBE Kawasaki Team, and has enjoyed the warm welcome he has received from fans during the AMA Arenacross Series this year. “Everything in Arenacross has to be done two laps ahead! You need to be ahead of your race to take the lead, a smart decision promises a solid finish on these tracks.” exclaimed Bowers.

COATESVILLE, Penn. (January 26, 2010) – One of the most fluid riders on the track is returning to the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship. After posting the fastest qualifying time at round two of the 2009 series and earning some impressive finishes in his rookie year, Scott Powersports/DR.D/Pit Posse’s Johnny Lewis tore his ACL at a supermoto race in May sidelining him for several months. This season, he will compete in the entire AMA Pro Flat Track Singles Championship and select Twins races.

“I haven’t been this excited to start a season since my rookie year in supermoto,” said Lewis. “I’m taking all the positives from last year like my strong finishes at Daytona and the Springfield TT and also fighting for the win at the supermoto race. I took this ‘unplanned’ time off to work on my program for this year. I’m all healed up now and ready to rock this!”

Lewis will race a Scott Powersports/DR.D Honda CRF450R in the Singles races and a custom-framed Kawasaki Ninja 650 in select Twins races. Lewis has been running number 21 for three years, a number he established in the AMA Pro Supermoto Championship. Now he will run the new permanent national number 10 in the AMA Pro Flat Track Championship. He earned this number as a result of his strong finishes at the three rounds he competed.

In his three races before injury last season, Lewis finished 13th at the Daytona Short Track opener. The very next day, he posted the fastest qualifying time and went on to finish third in the Dash for Cash. In the main, he earned a 12th place finish. At the third round, the Springfield TT, he improved greatly finishing an impressive seventh in the main.

Lewis recently got on his 2009 Kawasaki KX450F in North Carolina for a practice session (a bike he will use as a back-up this year). A number of sponsors have returned to support Lewis’ 2010 season, including Coopersburg, Pennsylvania-based dealership Scott Powersports. It heavily supported Lewis last season with motor and suspension work, a mechanic, and transporting his race bikes. Scott Powersports is increasing its support even more this year, providing Lewis the ability to compete in select AMA Pro Flat Track Twins races on a highly-modified, custom-framed Kawasaki Ninja 650 flat-tracker. Long-time sponsor Dubach Racing Development (DR.D), which Lewis brought into AMA Pro Supermoto in 2008 and then AMA Pro Flat Track for the first time ever last season, is back with its powerful and light exhaust systems. The 2010 season is here and usually, most of the manufacturer’s contingency programs are announced before the New Year but there has been a drastic change in the motorcycle industry in the past year much thanks to the dark Lead Law cloud hovering over the entire industry and the overall economic downturn the world is facing now.  In December 2008, I made a post talking about the contingency programs available for the 2009 season.  For 2010, I have let an extra month pass by and as Spring is only a little over a month away, riders and their families are eagerly looking to find out what brand they wish to ride to help cut costs and earn money throughout the 2010 season.
